In times of trouble I ask myself: What would John McClane do?

July 21, 2007
Hey, you’re that annoying pre-movie cola ad! Listen, if it weren’t for me you’d have paid an outrageous price for those movie tickets. But I did pay an outrageous price for these movie tickets! Really? Well maybe I'm just lining the theater owner's pockets. Say, have you met my friend "Pre-Movie Car Ad"? Zoom, zoom! I hate movie spam. I went to see Live Free or Die Hard last week, and it was fantastic. I wasn’t a big fan of Len Wiseman’s Underwold series, but he did good by Die Hard, I think. Lots of action, lots of humour, and John McClane gets the shit kicked out of him, but comes out on top. What more could you possibly want?

I’m a big fan of anti-heros, and John McClane’s aging, analog police detective fits the description nicely in a story centering on cyber terrorism. I kind of wanted to see his daughter Lucy kick some ass, too. Maybe some other time.

Between visits to the movie theater I always forget just how annoying the pre movie ads are. It reminded me of this TGLR comic I produced for Zoinks! magazine last year. Enjoy!
